Privacy Policy

Effective October 27, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how SmartHouzz (“SmartHouzz,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses and shares information when you visit smarthouzz.com (the “Site”), request a consultation, or use our directory of smart home professionals. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Consultation requests: your name, email address, phone number, property address, the systems you are interested in, and any project details you choose to share.
  • Messages: anything you include when you email us or contact us through the Site.
  • Professional listings: if you list a business in our directory, your business name, contact details, service area, certifications, photos and description.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the Site, our hosting provider and tools automatically record basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the site that referred you, and the date and time of your visit.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies that the Site needs to work, to remember your preferences and to understand how the Site is used. When you click a product link, the retailer or affiliate network may set its own cookie so it can credit SmartHouzz if you make a purchase. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the Site may not work as expected.

2. How we use information

  • Respond to your questions and consultation requests.
  • Connect you with independent installers and dealers who can help with your project.
  • Operate, maintain, secure and improve the Site.
  • Send you messages about your request. We will only send marketing emails if you sign up for them, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
  • Detect and prevent fraud, spam and abuse.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

3. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information to data brokers or advertisers. We share information only in these situations:

  • Installers and dealers. When you request a consultation or contact a pro, we share your contact information and project details with one or more independent professionals in our network so they can reach you. These businesses are not owned by SmartHouzz, and they handle your information under their own privacy practices. We may receive a referral fee from them.
  • Service providers. Companies that help us run the Site, such as hosting, email, form and analytics providers, receive only what they need to do that work for us.
  • Retailers and affiliate partners. When you click a product link, the retailer learns that you came from SmartHouzz. Your purchase is handled entirely by the retailer under its own privacy policy. We never see your payment details.
  • Legal and safety. When required by law, or to protect the rights, property or safety of SmartHouzz, our users or others.
  • Business changes. If SmartHouzz is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

4. Third-party websites

The Site links to retailers, manufacturers and professionals we do not control. Their websites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your information.

5. Your choices

  • Access, correct or delete. Email us to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or to correct or delete it.
  • Emails. Use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, or email us.
  • Cookies. Adjust your browser settings to block or delete cookies.
  • Do Not Track. The Site does not currently respond to browser Do Not Track signals.

6. State privacy rights

Depending on where you live, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and other states, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, to access, correct or delete it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information or targeted advertising. To make a request, email hello@smarthouzz.com with “Privacy Request” in the subject line. We will verify your request and respond within the time required by law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

7. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, such as following up on your request, or as required by law. We then delete or anonymize it.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS). No website or online service is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

The Site is meant for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be highlighted on the Site.
