Affiliate Disclosure

Effective October 27, 2026

The short version: SmartHouzz is reader-supported. When you buy a product through a link on our site, or hire a professional you found here, we may earn a commission or referral fee. It never costs you anything extra, and it never decides what we recommend.

How we make money

Product links

Many product cards on SmartHouzz have a “View Deal” button. These are affiliate links: when you click one and make a purchase, the retailer or manufacturer may pay us a small commission. You pay the same price you would pay going to the store directly.

Affiliate links on our site start with smarthouzz.com/go/. That makes them easy to recognize, and it lets us update a link if a retailer changes its page.

Amazon Associates

SmartHouzz is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.

Other retailers and brands

We may also earn commissions through programs run by other retailers, manufacturers and affiliate networks. The terms vary from program to program.

Installers and featured listings

SmartHouzz connects homeowners with independent installers and dealers. Professionals in our directory may pay to be listed, pay for a “Featured Installer” placement, or pay a referral fee when we connect them with a homeowner. Paid placements are always labeled. These businesses are independent of SmartHouzz, and you should confirm licensing, insurance and pricing directly with any pro you hire.

How we choose what to recommend

  • We pick products for reliability, ease of use, compatibility (such as Matter and Thread support) and value. We do not pick them for how much they pay.
  • Some products we recommend have no affiliate program at all. If something is the right choice, we include it anyway.
  • Brands cannot pay us for a positive review or a higher spot on a list.
  • If a product stops being a good recommendation, we remove it, even if it earns us money.

Prices, photos and availability

Prices on SmartHouzz are typical prices at the time we wrote about a product, and they change often. Photos on product cards are illustrative lifestyle images and may not show the exact product. Always check the retailer’s listing for current price, photos, specifications and availability before you buy.
